ONGOING PROJECTS | Old-new

RAZIA'S RAY OF HOPE | 2017

BYI is a sponsor of Razia's Ray of Hope. Our donations were able to fund a year of schooling for two students at Zabuli's Education Center, Meenah and Yalda. The donation covered the cost of their teacher's salary as well as materials that are essential to their education such as school supplies, books, backpacks, clothing, and more.

PRATYUSH CDCW | 2017

Pratyush CDCW(Complete Development of Children and Women) primarily deals with the economic, educational, social, health, and hygienic welfare of poor children and their parents. In July of 2018, BYI volunteers distributed supplies to Pratyush in Kolkata.

Prerana Audio Library | 2022

Prerana Audio Library or Voice of Books has a mission to empower visually impaired students by providing access to audible knowledge. They have created 55 audiobooks in 1 year and 9 months.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES DRIVE | 2016

BYI participated in the 2016 Backpack and School Supply Drive organized by Children's Fund to help low-income and foster youth in San Mateo County to make sure have everything they need to succeed in school this year. A volunteer who helps distribute backpacks and school supplies stated that these contributions “made a big impact on their lives and were a huge motivation for them to start school.”

SANKARA EYE FOUNDATION | 2016

The magnitude of blindness is huge. India has the largest population of the world’s blind; with over 45 million visually impaired and 12 million of them totally blind. Their mission is to reach out to the rural poor and provide quality eye care free of cost. Baybasi Youth Initiative fundraised for Sankara Eye Foundation during the 2016 Autumn Festival to help with 83 curable blindness cases in India.

KIDS AGAINST HUNGER | 2018

Kids Against Hunger's mission is to to provide fully nutritious food to impoverished children and families around the world. The goal of the organization is for the meals to provide a nutritional base from which recipient families can move their families from starvation to self-sufficiency. When BYI found this organization, we decided to help them and we volunteered to pack food for people in Somalia(a country in East Africa) and to donate.

ARDSI - KOLKATA | 2017-2019

ARDSI(Alzheimer's and Related Disorders Society Of India)'s vision is to create a unique place for people with memory loss due to dementia. They wish to provide innovative services designed to enrich the lives of the person and support to their careers. They are India’s largest group creating a dementia-friendly society. ARDSI's staff are specially trained in working with people with dementia.

CALI WILDFIRES | 2019-2022

Fire Safe Marin is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing fire hazards, promoting fire safety awareness, and helping residents prepare for wildfires in Marin County, California. BYI was able to donate to Marin Safe to support the victims of the Marin Wildfire, as well as all the other wildfires going on in California.

AMPHAN CYCLONE | 2020

In Hingalganj, a village in India, houses are completely destroyed because of a cyclone. The people are living in an accommodation provided by the government. They will not be able to do any agricultural activities for the next 3 years. In addition, the large scale saline water flooding is causing various skin diseases for people. To help, BYI is helping villagers buy medicine, among another things.

COVID-19 DONATIONS | 2020

With the remaining funds from previous projects, as well as other donations, BYI was able to help several organizations including Parikrama, Pratyush, and Doctors Without Borders. BYI donated to these organization to help with things like providing meals, feeding families of daily wage workers, and helping with relief funds.

SUPPORTING HOMELESS | 2020-21

BYI helped supported homeless people in 2020-2021 through an individual in the Bay Area.

SEVA COMMONS FOUNDATION | 2022

Seva Commons Foundation's mission is to provide support and selfless service to care for the hungry, homeless, and underprivileged throughout communities. Their vision is to make a positive impact by helping communities and organizations in fighting hunger, providing basic amenities and safe environments for children and families.

ALIVE! | 2022

ALIVE! is the oldest and largest private safety net in the City of Alexandria, VA dedicated to fighting poverty and hunger. When we caught wind of this, we decided to help out and get school supplies for the kids at Ronald McDonald House Charities in Palo Alto.

PENCILS OF PROMISE | 2022

Pencils of Promise is an organization which believes every child should have access to quality education. They create schools, programs and global communities around the common goal of education for all. BYI helped their cause by empowering communites through education.
